“Mabrook!”

In all of our years photographing weddings up and down the east coast, you can never tell where our couples will take us. Rola & Bassam’s Bedford Village Inn wedding is a perfect example of this. While we’ve worked in Bedford, NH several times, this one was just a little different…and I learned a little about my own heritage in the process!
A little known fact…I have Lebanese ancestry, which sadly I don’t know much about. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to work with Rola & Bassam, also Lebanese, who were gracious enough to share a thing or two about the K(h)oury family (apparently my grandmother’s family changed their name slightly upon emigrating from Lebanon … who knew?).
Another first: The couple’s ceremony at St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence, MA, was entirely in Arabic. Since I was raised Catholic, I recognized a number of the traditions, but I understood little else. I DID learn that “Mabrook” means “Congratulations”, which is the perfect expression for this beautiful couple. 🙂
